WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN A WORSHIP SERVICE?

WHO IS WELCOME?
You are! Whether you are a visitor passing through, someone seeking to know more about Jesus, or a neighbor looking for a faith community we are grateful for the opportunity to join you on your journey. Cokesbury is for people who come alone, with a friend or family. By the grace of God we embody the gospel as imperfect people learning how to live well with life’s daily challenges, conflicts and opportunities.

HOW DO I DRESS?
People often remark that they felt at home as soon as they came to Cokesbury. From suits and dresses to shorts and t-shirts everyone is welcome to dress as they feel comfortable.

HOSPITALITY AND GREETING
When you enter the church greeters are located just inside the doors of the church to welcome everyone. The greeters have bulletins which list our order of service and important information about programs and events at the church. The greeters are there to assist our visitors in any way. If you have questions please feel free to ask our greeters. Sit where you like: there are no assigned seats.

10:30am SUNDAY SERVICE
Communion is served the first Sunday of each month.
At 10:30 the experience is more formal, traditional worship with a choir, organ music and traditional hymns. There is a children’s message during the 11 o’clock service.

Praise the Lord!

I greet ALL of you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  In 2020, Joseph (Haksop) and Grace (Shinhye) Kim are celebrating our 20th year wedding anniversary and pastoral ministry.  Together, they have served several United Methodist Churches in Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida such as Lexington, Suwanee, Tampa, Lakeland, and Ormond By the Sea.  We have two precious children.  This Fall, Esther will be a Freshman in College and Samuel will start 10th grade in High School.

My family and I thank God for allowing us to serve Cokesbury United Methodist Church since July 1, 2018.   It’s been a joyful journey to serve our community in Margate with my sisters and brothers of the Cokesbury.  Cokesbury is a church filled with people who care for one another with God’s love and have been actively serving its community and the world.  Cokesbury is an AWESOME Church that worships an AWESOME God through two weekly services (contemporary & traditional styles).

We are actively serving our community through our Food Pantry Program, Children’s Ministries, and MICAH (Margate Initiative Community Action & Hope).  Through MICAH, we have been serving our community with other church leaders and the leaders in the City of Margate such as commissioners, school teachers, police officers, and fire fighters.  I am so proud to announce that all of our ministries are initiated, sustained, and empowered by our prayer ministries.

Moreover, we have been caring for one another through our strong network of small group ministry.  Everyone who joins our church will be asked to join one of our small groups for mutual support and accountability.

God called me into the pastoral ministry while I was serving the U.S. Army in Bamberg, Germany.  After discharge from the Army honorably, God opened the door for a theological training at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky from 1999 to 2003.  I am so honored to be a pastor of this wonderful Cokesbury United Methodist Church and am looking forward to continuing the amazing legacy of this church such as leading lost souls to Christ, and disciple them to become mature Christians, and serve the local and global community as we continue to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

I invite you to join me in this new, grace-filled and exciting adventure and witness how God may transform you and our community through the power of the Holy Spirit.  To God be the glory!
