Mission and Vision
Cokesbury’s Mission: Making Disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the World.
Our Vision: God has called us
...to Welcome all people: loving & praying for the community;
...to Nurture & introduce people of all ages to Jesus through meaningful & positive experiences;
...to Equip believers for ministry;
...to Serve in the community & the larger world through the church.
Nursery Attendant - Christina Celona
The Nursery is located in Room 8 of the Classroom Courtyard. Our attentive, background checked nursery attendants are there about fifteen minutes before worship begins to welcome little ones ages 4 and under. Older children and youth have age-appropriate programs that begin after they have had the opportunity to join the adults for opening praise of worship. While child care is available to all parents, those who want their children to stay with them throughout the service are welcome to do so.

GETTING TO KNOW US
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN A WORSHIP SERVICE?
WHO IS WELCOME?
You are! Whether you are a visitor passing through, someone seeking to know more about Jesus, or a neighbor looking for a faith community we are grateful for the opportunity to join you on your journey. Cokesbury is for people who come alone, with a friend or family. By the grace of God we embody the gospel as imperfect people learning how to live well with life’s daily challenges, conflicts and opportunities.
HOW DO I DRESS?
People often remark that they felt at home as soon as they came to Cokesbury. From suits and dresses to shorts and t-shirts everyone is welcome to dress as they feel comfortable.
HOSPITALITY AND GREETING
When you enter the church greeters are located just inside the doors of the church to welcome everyone. The greeters have bulletins which list our order of service and important information about programs and events at the church. The greeters are there to assist our visitors in any way. If you have questions please feel free to ask our greeters. Sit where you like: there are no assigned seats.
9:30am SUNDAY SERVICE
The 9.30 gathering is a casual contemporary service with a live band and a mix of modern music and classic favorites. During Praise Time we encourage everyone to join their voices in offering praise to the Lord! Everyone is welcome to praise God as they desire. Some stand, clap and lift their hands to the Lord. Others prefer to sit and listen. There is no one way to offer praise so you are invited to offer yourself in praise as you feel comfortable.
11:00am SUNDAY SERVICE
Communion is served the first Sunday of each month.
At 11.00 the experience is more formal, traditional worship with a choir, organ music and traditional hymns. There is a children’s message during the 11 o’clock service. Children may attend worship or Children’s Church during the service. The nursery is always open for pre-k and younger.
5:30 pm SATURDAY NIGHT SERVICE
Our new service will be engaging and interactive for all ages. We will share dinner, coffee-style house music that you can sing along with, a short sermon, and round table discussion on topics. This is not your traditional "set in stone" structure service. This service is a great way to engage and feel comfortable talking about faith and how to apply that faith to your everyday life whatever your age group.
Pastor - Joseph (Haksop) Kim
Praise the Lord!
I greet ALL of you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. In 2018, Joseph (Haksop) and Grace (Shinhye) Kim are celebrating eighteen years of marriage and nineteen years of pastoral ministry. Together, they served Korean United Methodist Churches in Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida. They also served three Anglo United Methodist Churches in Central Florida. They have two precious children. On this Fall, Esther will be an entering 9th grade in the West Broward High School and Samuel will be an entering 6th grade in the Coral Springs Middle School.
My family and I thank God for allowing us to begin a new ministry at Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Margate, FL. Cokesbury Church is a church filled with people who care for one another with God’s love and has been actively serving its community and the world. Cokesbury is an AWESOME Church who worships AWESOME God!
God has called me into the pastoral ministry while I was serving the U.S. Army in Bamberg, Germany. After discharged from the Army honorably, God opened the door for a theological training at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky during 1999-2003. I am so honored to be a pastor of this wonderful Cokesbury United Methodist Church and am looking forward to continue the amazing legacy of this church and experience many new things God will do through our prayers and ministries. I invite you to join me in this new and grace-filled adventure and witness how God may transform you and our community through the power of the Holy Spirit. To God be the glory!
Pastor Joseph and his family
Whether you are a visitor passing through, someone seeking to know more about Jesus, or a neighbor looking for a faith community, we are grateful for the opportunity to join you on your journey. By the grace of God we embody the gospel as imperfect people learning how to live well with life's daily challenges, conflicts, and opportunities. People often remark that they felt at home as soon as they came to Cokesbury. Our heart for God's kingdom is much greater than our numbers would suggest because people here want to make a difference locally and globally. Your story is part of God's vital conversation concerning the healing of the world. May God bless you abundantly with grace and wisdom as you discern if this is the community through which to serve God and grow in your faith.
